WARDOGS FIELD MANUAL

WARDOGS anti-cheat and launch checks

Verification status: editorial. Last verified: 2026-09-06

Security software is build-specific. Do not assume the name of an anti-cheat provider, a required BIOS setting, or a repair command unless the current official installation flow says so. This page helps separate an expected prompt from a problem worth reporting.

Read the first prompt carefully

Record the exact wording, time, and whether it appears before Steam starts the client or after a game window opens. A generic access denial, a missing-file alert, and a connection error need different evidence. Avoid granting administrator access to unrelated tools in an attempt to bypass a message.

Remove launch conflicts one at a time

Close optional overlays, macro utilities, debuggers, modified launchers, and capture hooks. Then retry from Steam without custom launch parameters. If the client works, add optional tools back one at a time so the conflicting layer can be identified.

Verify only through the platform

Use Steam's built-in file verification when the store client offers it. Do not download replacement DLLs, copied executables, or third-party "anti-cheat fixes". They cannot establish entitlement and may create a separate security or support issue.

Preserve a reportable trail

Keep the error text, a screenshot with personal information removed, your Windows version, and a list of running overlays. The known issues guide distinguishes official acknowledgements from player reports.

What remains unknown

This guide does not claim a particular anti-cheat implementation or support policy. Confirm build-specific requirements through the official Steam and BULKHEAD channels.
