WARDOGS playtest readiness checklist

Verification status: editorial. Last verified: 2026-09-06

Use this checklist as a decision sequence, not as a promise that a test is live. Timing, entitlement, preload availability, and regional visibility can change. The Steam listing and BULKHEAD announcements remain the final authority.

1. Confirm the event before downloading

Open the current event status first. A past playtest date is useful history, but it does not create present access. If Steam does not display an install, request, or library option for the account you intend to use, stop there and revisit the official announcement rather than looking for a shared code.

2. Check entitlement on the same Steam account

Use the account that received the invitation, test registration, or store entitlement. Confirm the game appears in that account's library before reserving disk space or troubleshooting an unavailable install button. A different account on the same PC can produce a misleading result.

3. Treat preload as a separate state

Preload is not automatically available because access exists. When a preload window is announced, let Steam finish the download, keep enough free disk space for unpacking, and avoid moving the library during the last update. If no preload control is shown, the safe state is "not announced for this account".

4. Make a short launch card

Before the session, note the official status page, the Steam account in use, available storage, graphics-driver version, and any overlays or capture tools you plan to run. That small record makes a later crash or entitlement report much easier to describe.

What this checklist does not confirm

It does not infer a server population, a universal start hour, a console date, or a beta key. Check the playtest timeline, then continue with Steam installation only after the store page presents an action for your account.
